Meet the Author
and Illustrator

Rukiya Bonner (author) is a Spelman Woman and the proud Mom of Sekai Jasmine (Class of 2022) and David Jabari. She is an attorney and spent several years performing as a children's entertainer (Magic Mama). Her messages of positivity were widely embraced and serve as the inspiration for this project. Stay tuned for her next book, Magic Is.

Courtney P. Lovett (illustrator) is a native of the Washington DC area. Her work is inspired by the joy and love from her upbringing. It is Courtney's mission to bring smiles to young faces. She recieved her BFA in Visual Arts form the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Courtney currently teaches and creates digital content.
